Southland stadium collapse probe completed

1:04 pm on 6 December 2010

A report into the collapse of the Stadium Southland roof following a snow storm in September is complete but the findings will not be released until a lawyer has checked the report.

Southland Indoor Leisure Charitable Trust chairman Acton Smith says the report has been held up while samples from NIWA scientists were analysed.

The snow samples were taken shortly after the roof of the $10 million collapsed under the weight of snow on 18 September.

Mr Smith says he has no idea what the report will say, but expects it to be released within the next week.

Meanwhile work is focusing on rebuilding the venue, with preliminary plans for the new stadium to be released by the middle of the month.
