Auckland City Mission is low on funds, with more people asking for help than ever before.
City Missioner Diane Robertson says thousands of people are requesting assistance every week and the mission is running out of resources to help them.
Ms Robertson says many of those in need are first time users who have never had to ask for help before.
She says last year they were seeing 1500 to 1700 people in a month, but last week 1000 food parcels went out, with 200 families coming in every day.
Ms Robertson says the mission is running out of resources, and is asking for donations of food, money, clothes and Christmas presents for children.
