Police say the number of road crashes this holiday season is down by more than 20% compared to previous years.
The holiday road toll is currently three.
Police figures also show there was a 10% reduction in people reporting dangerous driving in the first three days of the holiday period.
Superintendent Paula Rose says that is a good sign overall that travel behaviour is improving.
