A man has been charged with manslaughter over the death of a baby in Hastings.
Five-month-old Mikara Ranui Jarius Reti, of Flaxmere, was admitted to hospital last Tuesday and died that evening.
Police say a post-mortem was held the next day and further medical tests are being done.
The 21-year-old accused is in custody and was due to reappear in Hastings District Court on Tuesday.
Detectives say members of the baby's family have been co-operative and helpful during the investigation.
