The Foodstuffs supermarket chain has recalled some salad and spinach products because of food poisoning fears.

The company recalled its Pams brand of the products last Tuesday at Pak 'n Save, New World, Four Square and various independent stores because the products were thought to contain the bacteria listeria.

Listeria is found in soil and water, and those most vulnerable are pregnant women, the elderly and people with weak immune systems.

Foodstuffs managing director Murray Jordan says the products, supplied by Living Foods, are being closely investigated.
