A magnitude 4.4 earthquake in Marlborough has been felt in the upper South Island and lower North Island.
The quake occurred at 4.25am on Sunday at a depth of 40 kilometres.
GNS Science says its location was 20 kilometres east of Picton and 30 kilometres north-east of Blenheim.
