Ranjeeta Sharma, 28, was found set alight on a road near Huntly in Waikato on Thursday last week.

Ms Sharma's husband and four-year-old son left for Fiji the following day.

New Zealand police working on the homicide investigation have been in Fiji interviewing the man.

A Fiji police spokesperson, Atunaisa Sokomuri, says the man left voluntarily and was accompanied on the flight by his son and New Zealand officers.

New Zealand police say the man is still being treated as a person of interest and staff are still in Fiji working on the inquiry.

Ms Sharma's funeral was held in the Fiji capital Nadi on Friday.
