The Black Caps have cruised to an easy win over cricketing minnows Kenya in their opening World Cup match in India.

At Chennai the New Zealanders dismissed the Kenyans for 69 in less than 25 overs and passed that total without losing a wicket in eight overs.

Kyle Mills missed the game because of a sore back but offspinner Nathan McCullum recovered from fever to open the attack.

India got the tournament under way with an 87-run thumping of fellow hosts Bangladesh in Dhaka.
