BSA rules woman unfairly treated on TV3 show

TV3 has been ordered to pay $7000 to a woman featured on one of its programmes.

An episode of Noise Control showed the woman arguing with a noise control officer while she was intoxicated at her 50th birthday party.

The woman says she did not want to be filmed and suffered serious embarrassment when the show aired.

TV3 says the woman did consent when the noise control officer told her what the cameras were for.

But the Broadcasting Standards Authority ruled the officer's position could have misled her about what the footage would be used for.

The BSA found the woman was unfairly treated by the show and ordered TV3 to pay her legal fees of $7000.
