Three Hamilton men have been fined for their part in an illegal night-time hunting trip in which a woman was shot and killed in October last year.

Brad Bennet and Ashley Wolland, both 27, and Kyle Dean, 18, pleaded guilty in the Taupo District Court on Tuesday to breaching their Department of Conservation hunting permits.

The men were hunting after dark with Andrew Mears, 25, who was jailed in November for two-and-a-half years after pleading guilty to the manslaughter of Rosemary Ives.

Ms Ives, 22, died after being shot while she was brushing her teeth at a DoC campsite near Turangi after Mears mistook her for a deer.

Bennet, Wolland and Dean were prosecuted under the Conservation Act and each fined $2500.
