The father of Carolina Anderson, a seven year old child who was mauled by a dog in 2003, says he sympathises with the families of two girls who were attacked by dogs on Saturday.
A two-year old from Kawerau who was mauled underwent surgery in Whakatane Hospital, and a four-year old was attacked by a bull mastiff in Wairarapa.
Both are stable in hospital, but John Anderson says they have a long and difficult road ahead, and their families will need the support of friends and other people.
He says he would like to see a complete ban on dangerous dogs.
