Graham Capill gets early parole hearing

Convicted paedophile, Graham Capill, has been granted an early parole hearing.

In 2005, the former leader of the Christian Heritage Party was given a nine-year jail term for sexually abusing three young girls.

The Parole Board last year told Capill he could apply for an earlier parole hearing if he completed the Kia Marama child sex offenders programme and had a strong release plan in place.

Capill has met those requirements and the Parole Board has granted him a hearing this month.

The board has asked for a residential restrictions report to be made available but says it makes no promises about the hearing's outcome.
