BP has raised retail petrol prices by 2 cents per litre. Diesel is up by three cents per litre.
The company says the cost of imported refined petrol has risen by 2.6 cents per litre, despite the strong New Zealand dollar.
But the company won't raise its prices in Christchurch because of the earthquakes.
