Changes to central Auckland bus services

8:29 pm on 6 July 2011

Bus services in central Auckland are to undergo the biggest shake-up in more than a decade with simpler routes and more frequent services.

Auckland Transport says changes include a new circular route linking suburbs such as Point Chevalier, Mount Eden and Newmarket and simpler routes into the Western Bays.

The agency says operator NZ Bus will use new vehicles in new colour schemes for the Outer Link and Inner Link routes.

Most routes will be removed from Queen Street to speed up their journeys, leaving just one dedicated Queen Street service running to the new waterfront development at Wynyard Quarter.

The changed services begin in late August.
