An Auckland woman has been arrested for stealing and then crashing a police car.
Police say the vehicle was taken from a West Auckland address late on Saturday afternoon while two officers were arresting an aggressive and violent offender.
The woman alleged to have stolen the car is said by police to be an associate of the offender.
According to police, she drove the patrol car for about one kilometre before crashing into a vehicle driven by a member of the public.
Nobody was injured but there was minor damage to both vehicles.
The woman will appear in the Waitakere District Court over the incident.
