Neighbours unhappy at RWC powers

Special powers are being used to clear the way for Rugby World Cup events, but at least one application looks set to antagonise Eden Park locals.

A bid has been made by Rugby New Zealand 2011 to allocate hundreds of carparks at Kowhai Intermediate School for the Rugby World Cup staff, contractors, volunteers and emergency services.

But Eden Park Neighbours Association president Mark Donnelly says it will only cause more disruptions in the community and could ruin the school's grounds.

Another application is seeking permission for late night sound system and lighting checks before the opening ceremony.

A decision will be made on both applications in the next fortnight.
