Ramsay facing court action over charity dinner no-show

British television chef Gordon Ramsay is expected to appear in a New Zealand court next year after being sued by an events company for $2.2 million.

A trial date has been set for Duco Ltd's claim against Ramsay for cancelling two dinner events in Auckland last year at very short notice.

The dinners were to include a charity auction for a sick child.

It is understood Duco does not accept the excuses Ramsay gave for having to pull out.

The trial is set for August next year. Duco's lawyer Damian Chesterman says he understands that Ramsay will appear.

Ramsay's agency Kruger Cowne arranged the appearance and is also suing the chef.
