A man has appeared in court accused of stealing $126,000 from Saint Patrick's College in Wellington.

He was arrested earlier this week, and faces eight representative charges of dishonestly accessing a computer and one of money laundering.

The charges relate to the period between September 2006 - March this year.

Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Jason Perry says a thorough investigation was carried out over several months following a complaint earlier this year.

Wellington District Court on Friday granted interim name suppression and remanded the accused to appear again next month.
