Police have found an escaped prisoner who had been on the run for more than a week.
An off-duty officer spotted Lex Miller in a vehicle near a motorcamp at Waikanae Beach in Gisborne on Friday evening.
Miller escaped from the Tongariro-Rangipo Prison, near Turangi in the central North Island, on 25 August.
The 48-year-old was jailed for nearly eight years for the attempted murder of his wife in 2008.
