Wellington police investigating the killing of Radio New Zealand journalist Phillip Cottrell are seeking information about two people and a car spotted on close circuit television footage of the area where he was attacked.
Mr Cottrell died after he was assaulted in Boulcott Street, shortly after leaving work on The Terrace in central Wellington at 5.30am on 10 December.
[image:4128:half:right]Two men, aged 17 and 19, have been charged with his murder.
The officer in charge of the inquiry, Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Miller, says the people and the vehicle were in Boulcott Street at around the time Mr Cottrell was attacked and police want to speak to them to see if they saw or heard anything.
He says while arrests have been made, the investigation is far from over and police need the help of the public to piece the jigsaw together.
Mr Miller says police are still receiving a steady number of calls in relation to the inquiry.
[image:4129:full]Detective Senior Sergeant Miller has urged anyone who recognises the people in the CCTV images to contact police.
"We're certainly looking for a response from those people or any other people who recognise the CCTV images, because the people themselves may not have seen that on TV."
He says officers have gained further information by speaking to associates of the two men charged with Mr Cottrell's killing.
