Netball final expected to be tough

1:01 pm on 22 July 2008

Waikato/Bay of Plenty Magic expect a tough game on Monday when they face the NSW Swifts in the inaugural trans-Tasman netball final.

The Magic beat the Adelaide Thunderbirds 51-49 in the semifinal in Hamilton on Monday night to qualify for the final at Acer Arena in Sydney.

So far, no New Zealand team has won in Australia in the inaugural season of the competition.

The Magic have lost twice to the Swifts this season, including last Monday's major semi-final.

Magic defender Casey Williams says there's no doubt the final will be tougher than their one-point loss to the Swifts last week.

Thunderbirds coach Jane Woodlands predicts an Australian win. She says the Swifts will be too tough for the Magic.

Magic coach Noeline Taurua acknowledges they will need to raise their game.
