The latest storm over New Zealand is not expected to ease until Friday.
And MetService says a series of smaller fronts is predicted to follow in its wake.
It says short sharp fronts will strike north and western parts of the North Island.
However, the incoming fronts won't have the same strength as the current storm.
The National Crisis Management Centre is monitoring the storm. It follows another storm that brought heavy rain last weekend.
