Fire out at Dunedin hotel

The Fire Service says a large blaze at a central Dunedin hotel has been put out and one person is being treated for smoke inhalation.

The fire at the Kingsgate Hotel began about 8.30pm on Monday and is believed to have started on the third floor.

There has been extensive heat and smoke damage to the building and fire safety officers are investigating the cause.

Six fire engines, police and ambulance service were still at the scene at 10pm.
