Sport: PNG Garamuts target two wins at U19 WC

9:47 am on 15 February 2014

Papua New Guinea have set a target of at least two wins at the Under 19 Cricket World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

At the last World Cup two years ago, the Garamuts beat Zimbabwe their first ever win against a test playing nation.

Just three players remain from that squad, including captain Dogodo Bau, but coach Rarua Dikana believes they can go one better.

"We've had a team discussion on this, especially comparing our sides' performance. It will be a good Key Performance Indicator for us to get two wins in this tournament and if we win three it will be a big plus for the side and it will be the first time the Garamuts have won three matches in the World Cup so that's something we are aiming at."

PNG's firs match is tonight against Scotland in Dubai, while Pakistan and India are also in the same group.
