An unnamed person in French Polynesia has won just over 10 million US dollars in a French lotto, underscoring the Tahitians' relative good betting luck .

The lotto company in Tahiti says the winner has so far not come forward.

It says the sum is the biggest one ever won in French Polynesia, surpassing the 6.8 million US dollars won by a local ticket three years ago.

The company says also super lotto has seen two French Polynesia winners in the past, earning up to 22 million dollars with the winning ticket.

It says compared with the size of the population, Tahiti has seen more winners than France.

While winners often want to remain anonymous it is often difficult to maintain privacy in relatively small island communities.
