The Samoan police officer who accused an associate minister last year of driving away from him during a blood-alcohol test has been fined for leaking his report to the media.
Constable Ma'anaima Patu was fined 25 US dollars for the breach.
In October, a police report detailed the incident, saying Associate Minister of Finance Muagututagata Peter Ah Him drove away from police before they could complete the test, after being instructed to do so by the Deputy Prime Minister Fonotoe Pierre Lauofo.
The two MPs have been charged by police after a long investigation.
The acting police commissioner, Fauono Talalelei Tapu, says the penalty against Constable Patu came with a strong warning for it not to be repeated in the future.
A journalist was also asked by the investigators to make a statement, but declined, citing protection of sources.
