Solomons opposition says Govt MPs worry more about Funds

An opposition MP in Solomon Islands says most government members worry more about their Constituency Development Funds than about good governance in Solomon Islands.

Milner Tozaka made the comment at a national meeting of his political party, the People's Alliance Party, remarking that MPs appear uninterested in discussing issues that affect the country.

He says they appear to be interested more in payments that should be derived from the recent bech-de-mer exports and the various state funds allocated to them to develop projects in their constituencies.

Mr Tozaka accuses government MPs of ignoring problems such as the shortages of drugs and medicines in hospitals and health centres, the low standard of education and other poor delivery of services.
