Samoa company sees potential for joint venture with American Samoa

A Samoa company, Wilex, sees potential for a joint venture with American Samoa to produce value-added products for the United States market.

Its owner, Tagaloa Eddie Wilson, says the company is now sending products to the US in bulk but there are opportunities to make the finished product either in American Samoa or in Apia to sell to the US.

That would take advantage of American Samoa's duty free status with the US.

Tagaloa is part of a 16-member delegation from Samoa that's holding discussions with officials from American Samoa on how to improve trade and business development between the two sides.
