NZ PM to attend Samoa’s Independence celebration

Samoa's Prime Minister, Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi, has announced the participation of New Zealand's Prime Minister in the celebrations of his country's 52 years of Independence next month.

Tuilaepa, in his weekly radio interview, said Tooletai John Key will be one of the dignitaries to attend, as well as the Ulu of Tokelau and other overseas government dignitaries.

The prime minister has praised New Zealand's assistance to the development of Samoa especially the preparations for this year's Small Islands Developing States conference to be held in Apia in September.

Tuilaepa says New Zealand has allocated five million US dollars for the preparations which includes funding for the restoration of Apia's beachfront project.
