A female student at the American Samoa Community College is being questioned by police in connection with an abandoned newborn baby found in Auto yesterday morning.
The 19 year-old was the one who informed police that she found the baby girl in a umu or cook house.
Later when police questioned her, she broke down and confessed that she had given birth to the infant.
Our correspondent says the baby girl is now at the LBJ Hospital nursery and is reported to be well.
