Sport: Flying Fijians to focus on scrum issues

Fiji rugby coach John McKee says the scrum is an area of concern leading into this weekend's Pacific Nations Cup clash against Tonga.

The Flying Fijians fought back from a half time deficit to beat Italy 25-14 in Suva, with second-five Nemani Nadolo continuing his hot form in Super Rugby with a try and ten points off the boot.

Referee JP Doyle awarded two penalty tries to the Italians - the first in the 10th minute for repeated collapsing of the scrum and the other for illegal wheeling of thr scrum in the second half.

John McKee was pleased with the overall performance in his first match as head coach but accepts their scrum requires some work.

"Italy are very very strong in that area and play very much to their strengths and look to win penalties out of that area. Outside of the scrumming our game went pretty well and particularly in the second half when we were able to open the game up a little but more we caused a lot of problems for the Italian defence."
