Sport: Rugby Championship over for Fiji and Samoa

10:11 am on 21 June 2014

Fiji and Samoa have made a losing finish to the Junior World Rugby Championship.

Fiji were beaten 22-17 by Italy in the playoff for 11th and 12th place and finished winless after five matches.

Fiji won the corresponding match last year to avoid relegation but their fate was sealed before kickoff, as Italy are hosting next year's tournament.

They will join Tonga in next year's second tier Junior World Rugby Trophy.

Meanwhile the Baby Manu finished in eighth place, one better than last year, after a 20-3 defeat to Wales.
