One of the pioneers of AFL development in the South Pacific believes the region has never been stronger and has a bright future ahead.
Andrew Cadzow stepped down from his role as the AFL's Asia Pacific Development Manager earlier this month after six years in the job.
Prior to that he spent eight year sas CEO of AFL PNG and has clocked up 27 years working for the AFL.
Andrew Cadzow says the talent pathways developed for Pacific players are flourishing, with dozens currently on International Scholarships with AFL teams.
And he says the future looks promising.
"My one hope is that game development really continues to be pushed and pushed and pushed because certainly at grassroots we have such opportunities throughout the world. I mean the participation and talent coming out of the Pacific is going to be huge if we continue to push the development side of the game and I think that we just continue to do that and the next ten years will be even more exciting than the last ten."
Andrew Cadzow says he won't be lost to the Pacific region completely - he's off to PNG shortly and will also be helping with the International Cup tournament in Australia later in the year.
