New market in Samoa opens today

2:00 pm on 18 August 2014

Samoa has opened the new Fugalei market in time for the Teuila Festival and Small Islands Developing States conference.

The five million US dollar Chinese-built facility in Apia was officially opened today and is expected to provide Samoa's farmers with a safe and bigger venue to sell their produce.

The market, which will also be a trading post for handicraft sellers, has taken two years to build.
