Doctors from the Ministry of Health and and health officials from the Health Division of the Honiara City Councils made the call during a talk-back show on the SIBC, the state-owned broadcaster.

It follows the death of two children in Honiara who had measles.

Authorities say eight clinics run by the Honiara City Council and the National Referral Hospital will vaccinate children and additional vaccination centres have also been set up.

They also say people must help efforts to stop the spread of measles by covering their mouths when coughing, sneezing and not spitting openly.
