Fiji begin their bid for a permanent spot on the IRB Women's Sevens World Series on Friday.

The Fijiana team is one of 12 vying for a top four finish in the Hong Kong qualifier.

That would be enough to secure a place at all six tournaments in the expanded series, alongside New Zealand, Australia, Canada, England, Russia, the USA and Spain.

The top four teams on the 2014/15 Series will also earn qualification for sevens' debut at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Fiji kick off the tournament against Argentina and also take on Japan and Kenya in the group phase.
