Inquiry assistance welcomed by Pike contractors

Former Pike River Coal contractors have welcomed a decision by the Government to pay the legal costs of those participating in a Royal Commission of Inquiry into the disaster.

The Government previously decided to cover the legal bills of the families of the 29 men killed in the mine on 19 November.

Pike River Contractors and Suppliers Group says each of the 70 contractors lost about $100,000 as a result of the disaster and the money for legal costs is a welcome relief.
