Govt 'still committed' to stopping Australia exodus

8:30 pm on 24 March 2012

The Prime Minister, John Key, says the Government is still committed to stopping the exodus of New Zealanders to Australia.

Statistics New Zealand says a net 39,100 people headed across the Tasman last month, a record high.

Mr Key says some specific issues, such as the Christchurch earthquakes, have led to more people moving to Australia.

He says the government's 120-point economic plan is expected to deliver more jobs and narrow the wage gap with Australia.
