A report on the employment of a convicted sex offender at six schools has been received by the Education Minister, Hekia Parata.

Ms Parata commissioned the report in February after it emerged that Te Rito Miki had gained employment at the North Island schools.

He found work despite having more than 60 convictions, including common assault in New Zealand and Australia, and three counts of indecent assault on a boy aged 12 to 16.

Last month he was sent to jail for just over four years for using false CVs and a forged birth certificate to obtain the teaching jobs.

Ms Parata says she and the relevant Ministers will now consider the report.
