Targets for reducing the number of long-term ACC claimants have been scaled back significantly, under a new agreement between the minister and the corporation.
An ACC privacy scandal recently led to public criticism about people being forced off compensation. Nearly 7000 ACC claimants had their privacy breached when their details were emailed to another claimant, Bronwyn Pullar.
ACC minister Judith Collins has told ACC that while she expects that costs are kept under control, it must also ensure that entitlements are delivered fairly and transparently.
Over the past three years the total number of people receiving 1260 in 2009-2010, 1542 the year after, and by 843 to the end of May this year.
In the new agreement, the ACC is only expected to cut overall numbers by a total of 339 over the next three years.
