The Labour Party says nominations for its Christchurch East by-election candidate are opened on Monday.
MP Lianne Dalziel will resign to contest the Christchurch mayoralty in local body elections in October.
This will force a by-election in the South Island electorate in November.
Nominations to be Labour's candidate close at midday on 4 September. This will be followed by a selection process.
