More Govt assistance wanted for film industry

Members of the film industry used New Zealand Film Awards ceremony on Tuesday night to renew calls for Government help to save the industry from a major downturn.

The industry says it's in crisis, with no big-budget productions currently filming and other countries offering higher tax rebates.

Many of those at the awards were fearful about what the next few months hold.

Veteran actor Bruce Allpress called for the Government to increase a tax rebate of 15% to big-budget films.
