Minister releases more Novopay figures

Latest figures show the number of errors on the Novopay school payroll system is lower than last year but the minister says a lot of work remains to be done.

The two largest and most complex pay runs of the school year have been completed and the proportion of errors in those has been released by Education Minister Steven Joyce.

The figures show that 0.34% of staff throughout the country had problems with their pay before Christmas and 0.25% had problems with their new year pay.

An error level of 0.5% is seen as an acceptable.

Mr Joyce says it's encouraging that both pay days have similarly low levels of error when compared with last year.

But he says more work needs, and is, being done on improving parts of the system.

Novopay caused significant disruption after it was introduced in August last year, disrupting pay for thousands of school staff.
