National MP Kanwaljit Singh Bakshi will be on leave from Parliament for the next eight weeks, to undergo heart by-pass surgery.
Mr Bakshi has been experiencing problems with his heart for some time but expects to make a full recovery.
He entered Parliament on the party list at the last election.
During his absence, constituents should contact his Out-of-Parliament office in Auckland which will forward any cases requiring urgent attention to Mr Bakshi's colleagues in Parliament.
