English to visit Hong Kong, London

11:49 am on 2 October 2009

Finance Minister Bill English leaves for Hong Kong and London on Sunday to raise New Zealand's profile with investors and business groups.

Mr English says as the Government expects to borrow about $40 billion in the next four years it's important there are direct talks with financial capitals.

He will be reminding investors on his six-day trip that New Zealand's economic fundamentals are sound, he says, and that it is well positioned to come out of the recession ahead of many other countries.

Mr English says he's also getting information on how the economies are moving out of recession and into recovery.

The minister visited Tokyo and New York on a similar mission last month.
