Carter to work for UN in Afghanistan

3:47 pm on 31 August 2011

The Prime Minister has confirmed that independent MP Chris Carter has taken an anti-corruption job with the United Nations in Afghanistan.

Mr Carter became an independent MP for Te Atatu after being expelled from the Labour Party for publicly criticising the leader Phil Gof.

John Key says he is aware Mr Carter will take up the job with the UN in the capital Kabul and wishes him well.

Mr Carter served as a Cabinet minister under former Prime Minister Helen Clark, who now heads the UN Development Programme.
