Parliament has passed a confidence vote on legislation to bring the 2008 Budget into effect.
Debate on the Appropriation Bill began with a traditional motion of no confidence in the Government.
The bill passed its final reading by 61-48, with nine abstentions, reflecting ongoing majority support for the Government.
The National Party had claimed the government wanted to delay the vote after the controversy surrounding donations to New Zealand First.
National has accused Prime Minister Helen Clark of taking a soft line against the Foreign Affairs Minister Winston Peters because Labour needs the support of his New Zealand First party.
An early election would have been called if the Appropriation Bill had not passed.
