Police say a woman is seriously injured after she was assaulted in central Auckland Friday.
A spokesperson says police were alerted to an altercation between two people at a lunch bar in Pitt Street just after cpm.
The woman, 45, is having surgery at Auckland Hospital.
The spokesperson says a man is helping police with their inquiries.
