A 4.4-magnitude earthquake has been recorded off Tolaga Bay on the east coast of the North Island.
The earthquake occurred at 9.25am on Tuesday, centred 80 kilometres north-east of Tolaga Bay at a depth of 40 kilometres.
GeoNet says it was possibly felt on the Raukumara Peninsula.
