Police say a house in a rural north Taranaki will remain under guard overnight on Sunday following the death of a woman in a shooting
They say they were called to the scene near the settlement of Okoki just after 3.30pm Sunday, following the death of the woman, who they believe was aged in her fifties.
Police say they have been speaking to relatives thought to have been at the house at the time of the shooting.
They are also talking to someone found in the town of Waitara, and have taken in the vehicle that person was driving for a forensic examination.
It is understood a gun has been recovered from the scene.
